COURSE OVERVIEW
In this course, trainees learn how to be safe and productive with a simple yet important piece of equipment on the landfill, the tipper. The tipper allows all the waste materials hauled in tractors/ trailers to be easily dumped onto the landfill. Operating the tipper while maintaining safety and productivity standards are the goal of the information presented this course.

Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:
• Understand the importance of the tipper
• Become familiar with the components and controls
• Learn how to perform a pre-use inspection
• Learn the basic operating skills required of an operator

COURSE TOPICS
Lesson 1: Introduction
• Review the content of the entire course
• Explain the importance of operator responsibility and attention to the operator’s manual

Lesson 2: Getting to Know Your Tipper
• Identify key machine components,
• Identify controls and understand their usage
• Identify instrumentation and gauges
• Read and respond to instruments and gauges as required by the
manufacturer

Lesson 3: Pre-use and Post-use Inspection
• Explain the importance of completing a pre-use inspection
• Identify general things to look for when inspecting your tipper
• Identify the steps to take to complete a pre-use inspection

Lesson 4: Operation
• Understand how to start the machine
• Know how to test the operator controls
• Know how to level the tipper
• Understand how to perform basic operation
• Know how to safely shut down the machine

Final Exam – 14 question exam with incorrect response feedback
